Imran Thahir is a highly experienced cricket professional and coach with over two decades of involvement in the game, both as a player and mentor. Educated at Carey College and Wesley College, Colombo, he was a standout schoolboy cricketer and all-round sportsman, captaining multiple age-group teams and earning recognition for both cricket and rugby.
At the competitive level, Imran represented leading clubs including Moors Sports Club, Colombo Cricket Club, and Kurunegala YCC in Sri Lanka’s domestic first-class circuit. His career highlights include representing Sri Lanka ‘A’, being part of the President’s XI against India in 1997, and later playing for the UAE national team. He also trained at the prestigious MRF Pace Academy in Chennai under the guidance of legendary fast bowler Dennis Lillee.
Transitioning into coaching, Imran holds both Sri Lanka Cricket and ICC Level 2 coaching certifications and brings 21 years of coaching experience across school, club, and corporate cricket. He has served as Head Coach for several prominent teams, including Colombo Malay Cricket Club, Bloomfield Cricket Club, Zahira College, Wesley College, and currently the Mercantile Cricket Association.Known for his inclusive coaching philosophy-treating every player equally-Imran has developed talent across all age groups, from junior to senior levels. His coaching achievements include multiple championship-winning teams in mercantile cricket, notably with Suntel Lanka and Commercial Development Bank (CDB), as well as a MCA 6-a-side title.
He has also contributed to elite player development through Sri Lanka Cricket’s high-performance and advanced coaching programs and has mentored emerging national-level players such as Jeffrey Vandersay and Jeevan Sriram.
With a strong foundation in both playing and coaching, Imran Thahir continues to play a vital role in nurturing and advancing cricketing talent in Sri Lanka.
Rajapaksha Vithanage Hasitha Lanka Madumal is an experienced cricket coach with over 10 years of coaching across school, academy, and club levels. A former player of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, he represented district and provincial teams and was a regular participant in the prestigious Battle of the Gold encounters.
He has coached a wide range of age groups from U10 to senior level, holding key roles at Champ Cricket Academy, Mercantile Cricket Academy, and Piliyandala Central College. Currently serving as Senior Coach at Mercantile Cricket Academy, he has contributed to several team successes, including the ICCA U15 Championship (2023) and multiple junior-level tournament achievements.
Hasitha holds SLC Level O and ICC Level 1 coaching qualifications, with expertise in batting, bowling, and fielding. He has also undergone High Performance training programs conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket and holds Umpire Level V certification.
Sithum Madhushanka Fernando is a dedicated and experienced cricket coach with over 15 years of coaching across leading school and academy systems in Sri Lanka. A product of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, he had a strong playing background, representing his school at multiple levels and showcasing leadership qualities from a young age.
During his playing career, Sithum represented his school in the prestigious Battle of the Gold encounters (2009/10) and captained the U-13, U-15, and U-17 teams. He further advanced to represent district teams and played club cricket for Kaluthara KPCC in the Sara Tournament, as well as Rio Cricket Club at U-23 level.
He holds ICC Level 1 and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Level 2 coaching qualifications, with expertise in batting, bowling, and fielding. His coaching philosophy is centered on developing well-rounded cricketers through discipline, technical excellence, and a strong understanding of the game.
Sithum has contributed extensively to school cricket, having coached at several leading institutions including Prince of Wales College (Academy & U-19), St. Peter’s College, Wesley College, S. Thomas’ College Preparatory School, St. Sebastian’s College, and DS Senanayake College. He has worked with all age groups from U-13 to senior level, demonstrating versatility and commitment to player development.
His coaching achievements include guiding St. Peter’s College to the U-15 Division 1 Championship in 2013, assisting Wesley College’s U-19 team to secure promotion to Division 1 in 2019, and leading multiple age-group teams to knockout stages. Notably, at DS Senanayake College, he mentored the U-13 A team to the finals, while the B and C teams reached the semi-finals and pre-quarterfinals respectively in 2023. He also played a key role in Prince of Wales College U-19 team reaching the quarterfinals in 2024.
In addition to his coaching roles, Sithum has actively participated in high-performance and elite coaching programs conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket, further enhancing his knowledge and staying aligned with modern coaching methodologies.
Milan Fernando is a highly accomplished former cricketer and emerging coach with a strong foundation in both Sri Lankan and international club cricket. An old boy of S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia, he enjoyed an outstanding school cricket career, earning 2nd Year Coloursman honors in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons.
During his playing days, Milan represented Colombo District at U-17 and U-19 levels and went on to play for several പ്രമുഖ clubs including Moors Cricket Club, Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), and St. Joseph’s Cricket Club. He was also part of the Sri Lanka Cricket Development Squad in 2008 (stand-by). Expanding his cricketing experience internationally, he played in Australia for Mt. Waverley and Moorabbin Cricket Clubs between 2012 and 2019.
Milan featured in prestigious tournaments such as the historic Battle of the Blues, Under-23 competitions, Premier League tournaments, and the Singapore Invitational T20, where he was part of the championship-winning SSC team. He also competed in Sub-District cricket in Melbourne and the Revocare Premier League T10.
A standout performer during his school career, Milan was recognized as the Best Fresher and Best Bowler in the 2007 Battle of the Blues, where he also claimed a five-wicket haul. In 2008, he became the first Thomian to capture 100 wickets in a single season and finished as the leading wicket-taker. His exceptional performances earned him the All-Island Best Bowler award and a place as a finalist in the Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year awards. He was also the second leading wicket-taker in the U-23 tournament in 2008 and contributed to runner-up finishes with SSC in both the U-23 and Premier League tournaments.
During his stint in Australia, Milan continued to excel, earning two MVP awards at Mt. Waverley Cricket Club and being named to the Team of the Year in the Eastern Suburbs Sub-District competition in 2018.
As a coach, Milan holds a Level 1 certification from Cricket Australia and brings a wealth of playing experience, discipline, and game awareness to his role. His exposure to different cricketing cultures enables him to mentor young players with a modern and well-rounded approach to the game.
Ms. Prasadani Weerakkodi is a distinguished former Sri Lanka Women’s National Team player and an accomplished coach with extensive experience in developing women’s cricket at both club and national levels.
She represented the Sri Lanka Women’s National Team from 2008 to 2024, participating in major ICC tournaments including the Women’s World Cup in India (2013) and England (2017), the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka (2012) and India (2016), and the World Cup Qualifiers in Sri Lanka (2016). Her international playing career has given her a deep understanding of high-level competitive cricket, which she brings into her coaching.
Ms. Prasadani began her coaching career with the Serendib International Cricket Academy (2016–2021), followed by coaching roles at Siyane Sport Club (2020–2024). She served as Head Coach at MCA Girls Cricket Academy from 2022 to 2025 and currently works as Assistant Coach for the Sri Lanka Navy Women’s Cricket Team since 2025. Her coaching encompasses players of all ages, focusing on technical development, tactical awareness, fitness, and confidence-building.
Certified with ICC Level 1 and SLC Level 2 coaching accreditations, Ms. Prasadani also completed the SLC Umpires Examination in 2025. Her professional qualifications are complemented by her strong foundation in cricket as a professional player, ensuring that her coaching integrates international experience with structured training programs.
Educated at Hanwella Rajasinghe Central College, she completed her G.C.E. Ordinary Level in 2004 and Advanced Level in 2007. Known for her dedication and professionalism, Ms. Prasadani is committed to fostering excellence in women’s cricket and advancing the development of young cricketers in Sri Lanka.
Ms. Chamika Madushani Bandara is a former Sri Lanka Women’s National Team player and an experienced cricket coach with over 12 years of coaching expertise. She represented Sri Lanka at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2009 (England) and played for premier clubs including Slimline SC, Colts CC, Chilaw Marians CC, and Sri Lanka Air Force SC. She is notable for hitting Sri Lanka’s first six in a Women’s T20 World Cup and being part of multiple championship-winning teams in the Women’s Premier 50-over tournaments. She was also a member of the Sri Lanka team that finished runner-up at the Asia Cup 2008.
Certified at SLC Level 2, Chamika specializes in batting, bowling, fielding, wicketkeeping, and fitness. Her coaching philosophy is player-centred development, emphasizing individual growth, skill enhancement, and game awareness: “Better players create better teams.”
She has coached at SL Air Force SC, MCA Girls Cricket Academy, WNSL, and the SL Youth League, training national players including Chamari Polgampola, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Malsha Shehani, Dilani Manodara, and many others from the national pool. Her coaching achievements include Women’s Premier Championships (2022, 2023), Defence Services Tournament Championship (2023), WNSL T20 Championship (2023), WNSL 50-over runner-up (2023), and 3rd place finishes in WNSL T20 & 50-over competitions (2024). She has also participated in high-performance training programs by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Mr. Mahesh De Alwis, a distinguished figure in mercantile cricket, currently serves as the President of the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) for the 2024–2026 term. He first joined the MCA in September 2008, serving under the presidency of Mr. Neal Perera, and has since held several key positions including Assistant Secretary, Secretary, Vice President, and President.
Over the years, Mr. De Alwis has played a pivotal role in the MCA’s growth, having chaired multiple committees such as the Tournament, Academy, Membership, and Restaurant & Bar Committees.
A proud alumnus of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, he currently serves as the Executive Director of Assetline Insurance Brokers, a company within the David Pieris Group.
An accomplished cricketer, Mr. De Alwis has represented leading firms including Eagle Insurance, LOLC Group, Union Assurance, Fairfirst Insurance, and David Pieris Group, as well as clubs such as Sebastianites Cricket Club, Moratuwa Sports Club, and Catamarans Sports Club. His leadership on the field is reflected through numerous achievements, including championship titles in the MCA’s C, F, and Over-40 Six-A-Side tournaments.
