Executive committee

The Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) Executive Committee is the governing body responsible for the overall administration, development, and promotion of Mercantile Cricket in Sri Lanka. The Committee plays a vital role in formulating policies, organizing tournaments, and ensuring the smooth operation of all MCA activities throughout the season. The Executive Committee comprises a team of experienced professionals and cricket enthusiasts representing member companies, who volunteer their time and expertise to uphold the values and traditions of MCA cricket. Their collective vision is to foster competitive and disciplined cricket while building camaraderie and sportsmanship among the mercantile fraternity.

Mr. Mahesh De Alwis

President – Mercantile Cricket Association (2024–2026)

Mr. Mahesh De Alwis, a distinguished figure in mercantile cricket, currently serves as the President of the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) for the 2024–2026 term. He first joined the MCA in September 2008, serving under the presidency of Mr. Neal Perera, and has since held several key positions including Assistant Secretary, Secretary, Vice President, and President.
Over the years, Mr. De Alwis has played a pivotal role in the MCA’s growth, having chaired multiple committees such as the Tournament, Academy, Membership, and Restaurant & Bar Committees.
A proud alumnus of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, he currently serves as the Executive Director of Assetline Insurance Brokers, a company within the David Pieris Group.
An accomplished cricketer, Mr. De Alwis has represented leading firms including Eagle Insurance, LOLC Group, Union Assurance, Fairfirst Insurance, and David Pieris Group, as well as clubs such as Sebastianites Cricket Club, Moratuwa Sports Club, and Catamarans Sports Club. His leadership on the field is reflected through numerous achievements, including championship titles in the MCA’s C, F, and Over-40 Six-A-Side tournaments.
